BSN Round 9: Cariduros defeat Cangrejeros in the closest game of the week

After 9 rounds played we can already see who rules in the BSN and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 9 in the BSN took place in Fajardo. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Cangrejeros (2-4) to fourth ranked Cariduros (3-5) 83-81 in the game for the third place. Cariduros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-1993, college: Manhattan) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and American center Elijah Holman (208-1989, college: Detroit) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Cariduros' coach Allans Colon used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Alfonso Plummer (185-1997, college: Illinois) with 20 points. Cariduros moved-up to third place. Cangrejeros at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Cariduros are looking forward to face Mets (#6) in Guaynabo in the next round. Cangrejeros will play at home against the league's second-placed Atleticos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Mayaguez. 4th placed host Indios (4-4) lost to second ranked Atleticos (6-1) 78-74. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (202-1989, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) nailed 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Luis Hernandez accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Kaleb Wesson (208-1999, college: Ohio St.) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds for Indios in the defeat. Indios' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atleticos maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Quebradillas which they share with defeated Indios. Indios at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Ponce and Carolina. Atleticos will play against Cangrejeros (#4) in Santurce in the next round. Indios will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
BSN top team - Piratas (7-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Osos (2-7) in Quebradillas 94-90. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Brandon Knight who scored 30 points and 7 assists. Piratas' coach Rafael Cruz used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Elfrid Payton who recorded 22 points and 6 assists. Piratas maintains first place with 7-1 record, which they share with Bayamon. Loser Osos dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Humacao. Piratas will meet Leones (#4) in the next round. Osos will play against the league's second-placed Gigantes and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 9 Guaynabo lost to Carolina on the opponent's court 75-89. Humacao was outscored by Ponce in a home game 82-101.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points and 14 rebounds by Timajh Parker-Rivera of Humacao.

Carolina - Guaynabo 89-75

Very expected game in Carolina where 6th ranked Mets (1-7) were defeated by second ranked Gigantes (4-4) 89-75 on Saturday. Gigantes shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Guard Ismael Cruz (190-2001, college: Indian Hills) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. Gigantes' coach Carlos Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Jaysean Paige (188-1994, college: WVU) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Gigantes and four Mets players scored in double figures. Gigantes maintains second place with 4-4 record having just three points less than leader Quebradillas, which they share with Ponce and Mayaguez. Mets lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Gigantes will meet Osos (#6) in the next round. Mets will play against Cariduros and hope to win that game.

Center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Piratas' coach Rafael Cruz used entire bench in such tough game. There was a small surprise in Humacao where fifth ranked Leones (4-4) smashed their close opponent Grises (2-7) 101-82 on Sunday. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored 26 points and 5 assists. Forward Christian Negron (201-1998, college: GVSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-1994, college: Towson) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Dominican forward LJ Figueroa (198-1998, college: Oregon) added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones moved-up to second place, which they share with Carolina and Mayaguez. Loser Grises keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Manati. Leones will meet at home league's leader Piratas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grises will have a break next round.
